Stamp Carving for Decorative Paper:

Looking to an alternative to fancy paper decorating techniques that cost a lot of money? Learn to carve your own rubber stamps from the classic “Pink Pearl” erasers, and use them to make decorative paper for your next bookbinding project!

In this 2 day workshop we will first learn several techniques for transferring artwork to the blank erasers, and good carving technique using scalpels and gouges. On day 2 we will use our stamps to decorate paper using high quality printing ink.

Level: This workshop is appropriate for adult students at all levels, including beginners.

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR
I’m Cooper McBean, a musician, artist, handyman, toolmaker, and bookbinder living in Austin, TX.  I’m largely self-taught using scavenged materials and homemade tools, but have been enjoying filling in the gaps in my bookbinding education since discovering ABAC. I’ve been making books for around 30 years, and especially enjoy making tiny books from scraps and trash.
