ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTORs

Chuck Peters is a botanist, a tropical ecologist, and a fledgling letterpress printer. He is emeritus curator of botany at the New York Botanical Garden (NYBG), where he worked for 35 years as a member of the science staff. He has directed conservation and sustainable resource-use projects in nineteen countries throughout the tropics. On retiring from NYBG in 2018, he started working as an intern at The Center for Book Arts (CBA) in New York. During his time there, he catalogued the CBA type collection and produced a specimen book of the 691 metal typefaces in their print shop. In September of 2020, Chuck moved to Austin and started volunteering at the Austin Book Arts Center.

Lena Rogy loves teaching and is passionate about working with her hands to produce highly detailed functional art. After she graduated from Folkwang University (Germany) with a degree in Communication Design, she moved to Austin where she has been working with Fortuna Monsoon creating handcrafted leather gear.
