Students will learn the fundamentals of bookbinding by making three structures: a flat back case binding (or a classic hardcover book), a long stitch journal, and a box to house tools or one of the books created during the class. Discussions about grain direction, paper folding, adhesives, and tools will be incorporated during the class.
Level: This class is appropriate for students at all levels.

Lindsay Nakashima is a recent graduate of the North Bennet Street School in Boston, MA and a student of papermaking at the University of Iowa Center for the Book. She has been living in Austin since 1998. Lindsay studied Japanese bookbinding with Kaoru Harada of KaoPok Bookbinding in Nagoya, Japan summer of 2014.
