Paper Making 101

THIS WORKSHOP WILL MEET IN-PERSON AT THE AUSTIN BOOK ARTS CENTER.

Come get your hands dirty and learn the basics of making paper by hand. In this eco-friendly workshop, we will be breaking down paper scraps to form new sheets of paper. Kelly will demonstrate from start to finish how to turn paper waste into pulp, as well as, learn several different paper forming techniques. This beginner friendly class will also explore adding color for some unique and colorful papers. Feel free to bring in any colorful paper scraps to recycle into new papers!

Level: This class is appropriate for adult students at all levels.

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR

Kelly Chambliss is an Austin-based paper maker and certified art educator. She has a BA, with an emphasis in Art History from Texas State University, and a background in art education in public schools and community art school settings. Kelly currently specializes in eco-friendly handmade papers. She loves to explore new materials and more sustainable art practices with students.
