THIS WORKSHOP WILL MEET IN-PERSON AT THE AUSTIN BOOK ARTS CENTER.

This session is full, but there is another session scheduled for Saturday, April 27th. Click here to register.

Join us for an exploration into marbling! We will learn various marbling techniques and learn how to create traditional and contemporary designs on paper. The history of marbling will be discussed as well as the many different types of size used to create these one of a kind prints.

Bookbinders use paste papers as decorative endsheets to add unique embellishments to a book. But you can create paste papers for an endless variety of applications, including decorative covering for boxes, frames, journals, cards or stationery. Students will learn a bit of the history of paste papers, look at both historical and modern examples, get a lesson on mixing methyl cellulose, and then be set free to create their own set of colorful and unique paste papers.
