Crossed Structure Binding

Online Via Zoom

Different variations will be taught in this session, so if you’ve taken the workshop previously, you’ll make new models!

In this workshop, we will learn to sew a Crossed-Structure Binding, a modern binding developed by artist and conservator Carmencho Arregui. In this non-adhesive binding style, the book covers act as the sewing supports, creating a minimal design with exposed sewing. This structure invites us to use color and design in our cover materials and sewing thread.

Students may choose to follow along with the instructor in real time, or simply observe and download the recording for future reference.
