Travel Journal

Description:

Wherever you go and however you like to get there, there’s a travel journal bound to be perfect for the trip!  We will make three different travel journal formats, each with their own purpose and loaded with possibilities for adaptation.

A Globetrotter Accordion is a small yet roomy book to show off your travel photos and mementos.  Next, a Japanese Wrapped Back Journal with a soft cover and lots of built-in pockets re-purposes topographic maps in a creative way to give you both blank and decorative pages.

Then, a Tacket Bound Journal uses a lightweight cover with your choice of map- vintage or modern- to show off this sturdy ancient stitch. Three signatures inside hold a variety of acid-free papers. We’ll further customize this book with added pockets, extra maps, and brad closures.

If you have a cool map you don’t mind cutting up or gluing, be sure to pack it!

Lee Steiner has been teaching herself and others hand papermaking and the book arts for more than a dozen years and has maintained her own art business and studio for eons. Life-long domestic pursuits include not only cooking, sewing, and gardening but Making Things. She's a papermaker, bookbinder, embellisher, writer, reader, junk picker, thrift shopper always on the lookout for old, forgotten, or funny treasures to use in her efforts to bring together the revered past and the quirky present in some paper/book/story form. Her Motto: "Why have a plain thing when you can have a decorated thing?"

♦ Classes are listed in chronological order by start date. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required.
♦ Members receive a 10% discount on tuition and materials. Please click here to join as a Member. To receive the discount, please select the Member Rate on the drop-down, under Choose an Option. This is located on the registration page for each individual workshop.
♦ You can register for multiple classes by clicking the Add to Cart button. If you want to take the class with a friend, you can also register multiple people!
♦ Payments are processed securely through the PayPal website. You do not need a PayPal account, but may process your order as a guest.
♦ Tuition and all materials are covered by the cost of the class. Students will be notified in advance if the instructor requests that students bring simple tools. Nothing fancy or expensive will be required in addition.
♦ Successfully completing a class at ABAC will qualify a student to use the Studio and equipment during Open Studio times, with certain restrictions. Please check here for rates and policies.
CANCELLATION POLICY: Students will receive a full refund or credit if cancelling a registration at least three business days before the first class meeting. Cancellations must be received in writing or by email at info@atxbookarts.org. If a student cancels less than three business days before the first class meeting, or drops out of a class in progress, full tuition and fees are forfeited. ABAC reserves the right to cancel a class due to under-enrollment. Registered students will be notified by phone and email 48 hours in advance if a cancellation due to under-enrollment should occur.
